Dynamic Island for MacBook
Notcher is a native macOS app that turns the notch of a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air into a Dynamic Island: music controls, a focus timer, a file shelf, clipboard history, weather and more open right under the camera when you hover the notch.
What the iPhone has and the Mac is missing
On iPhone 14 Pro and later, the Dynamic Island is the area around the front camera: it surfaces music, timers, calls and Live Activities. Macs have the same physical space — the notch of the MacBook Pro (14" and 16", 2021 and later) and MacBook Air (2022 and later) — but macOS does nothing with it.
Notcher closes that gap. Instead of a dead black bar, the notch becomes the place where the things you reach for all day live.
What Notcher puts into the notch
- Music: artwork, title, play, pause and precise scrubbing for Spotify and Apple Music, with an optional reveal on real track changes.
- Focus: a timer with 5, 15, 30, 45 and 60 minute presets.
- Shelf: park files briefly and hand them on via AirDrop.
- Clipboard history: opened with ⌃ V, ten filters, favourites, kept locally.
- Weather: optional hourly forecasts from MET Norway.
- Camera mirror: live and mirrored, never recorded.
- Menu bar apps: off by default, arranged by you.
Requirements
macOS 14 or newer on Apple silicon. The provided build is not a universal binary; Intel can be built from source. Notcher also runs on Macs without a physical notch — see supported devices.
Honest about security
Notcher 0.8.3 is locally signed but not notarized by Apple, so macOS may show a security warning on first launch. We never ask you to disable macOS protections.
